Gastrointestinal disorders are among the most common and widespread in the world: about one third of the world’s population suffers from them.
In Italy, gastrointestinal disorders affect as many as 89.6% of inhabitants: in particular, heartburn, abdominal pain, bloating and meteorism, diarrhoea, digestive difficulties and constipation are the most common.
The main cause is an imbalance in the intestinal microflora naturally present in the gut, which can be altered by infections, medications, disease states, incorrect nutrition, intolerances or allergies.
A healthy, active lifestyle and a balanced diet rich in fibre and low in saturated fats are the first choice for a healthy gut. To maintain regular function of the intestine, it is also important to drink at least two litres of water a day and to exercise regularly.
